AURORA REVIEW -LYCKSELE

Christmas and Aurora Adventure

This was our third aurora trip, and we were full of excitement and anticipation. Would we get to see this spectacle again?

Suddenly, an alert popped up on my phone — the KP index was high. My pulse quickened. I went outside and looked up at the sky. Only stars, no glow. Typical…

Then I turned around. On the horizon behind me, I saw a magical light slowly moving closer. I went inside to get my wife, our dogs, and the tripod. Now it was time.

Now the aurora intensified. The dance was in full swing, and we stood frozen, watching this incredible phenomenon.

It continued to dance over the Ume River, shifting shape — like a mix of a genie escaping a bottle and smoke rising from nowhere. Hard to describe.

It swept further across the area and the dance went on — intense and powerful, with many shifting formations. A magical crackling could be heard from the sky.

After about 40 minutes, the show was over. The aurora moved on toward new horizons. We stood there, completely speechless — grateful and happy to have witnessed it once again, and this time even stronger.
